I'm now a distributor for Quilter's Hangups, and in the process of receiving stock. Shipping from the states is slow right now, so I think the stock will be arranged for January intake. This is a premade quilt sleeve that will work perfectly with the Hang it Dang it system or any system that requires a quilt sleeve. Upon being greeting with this weather when I went out to check for goat babies this morning....

I got the cleaning bug. Not sure why the first big snowfall of the year does that, but it happens every year.

Since I rearranged and cleaned, I decided it was time to take some pictures of the studio! Here's a glimpse of where you're purchasing your machine quilting supplies from...

This shelf holds my extra stock of King Tut spools, and the selection of machine needles. The notion wall is to the left. Turn clock wise, and here's what you see!

My pride and joy, the stock of Superior Threads cones. Lava, Bottom Line, King Tut, Metallics, Highlights, Masterpiece, So Fine, then Rainbows. Turn clockwise again, and here's what you see!

This shelf hold my DVD selection(with their companion books), the bobbins, Tajima's, Towas, and miscellaneous machine notions. The basket of quilter's c clamps is on the bottom. Oh, and try me size of my favorite new "Best Press". If you have a problem quilt with fullness, spray some of this on, and it sucks it right up. I wiggle the fabric to where I want it, and let the spray dry for a while. Quilt it and you can't tell that the fullness was there. Magic!

The book shelf is to the right, and then the pattern package rack next in line.

Now, there's more to the store/studio, but the renos aren't done and it's not pretty yet, so you'll just have to wonder for a while! The panto shelf is over there, the zippers, template, rulers and Clamps.

Long time with no update!

Well, the last few months have been crazy, learning the new business and trying to keep stock on the shelves. I will have some new pictures up very, very soon, and I'm happy to say that new products are on their way. Watch the website and the blog for updates. I'm waiting for the shipment of Hang It Dang It's to show up so I can get them up for sale. They are the bee's knee's when it comes to hanging any size of quilt!

Longarm Supplies, packed and ready to head to it's new home in Vermilion, Alberta. Here is Linda Lang and Veta Borysiuk, past and present owners, worn out from all the busy days, looking forward to exciting things to come for both! Linda is going to continue longarming, teaching and selling APQS machines. I hope some of you will consider taking a class from her soon, and a stay at her gorgeous B&B. You won't be treated better anywhere!
As for me, Veta, things are starting to look better. Stock is almost all unpacked, renos are getting done, and work on the website is underway. Watch for updates as things are finished and the new changes take place. I look forward to working with you in the future!

A change in ownership.

I would like to thank all my loyal customers while I have operated LongArm Supplies. I have met many, many wonderful quilters, most of whom have become friends.

I am not falling out of the quilting world; I am looking forward to focusing on longarm quilting again. I will be remaining a representative for APQS machines; with parts; service and training. My telephone number will be changing to 604-794-5955 for assistance with APQS machines or just to chat.

This fall Rhonda and I will be launching a new website focusing on longarm machine quilting and training. A newsletter will be sent as we get closer to the launching of the new website. We will be starting a new blog this weekend to keep you up to date on what is going on with us. You can find our blog here; Quilted Cats Hideaway.

Now, I would like to introduce you to the new owner of LongArm Supplies, Veta Borysiuk.

Veta lives in Alberta. She has been a longarm quilter since 2001; previously owning a Gammill and now a Prodigy. She is excited to be adding a Intelligent Quilter to her machine.

Texture Magic

Texture Magic is taking the quilting/sewing world by storm. When Superior Threads came out with this product earlier this year, we could not keep it in stock. While we were at Quilts Canada, my daughter Rhonda and daughter in law Erica, decided to play with it while making some owl stuffies.

Texture comes in different sizes/widths. This is one of the smaller sizes the girls played with.
First you mark a pattern on the magic. Rhonda first measured/drew a grid pattern. On the second one she winged it.

Next, you layer the texture magic and your fabric. The girls went with the option of adding batting into their fabric sandwich for a bit more puff as well. Than you quilt it.

Now the fun part.
You hold the iron just above and steam away; the fabric shrinks right up. The instructions said it would shrink up to 30%.

Once you are done shrinking, you can put the fabric into a bag, a pillow or clothing. The girls continued with making their stuffies. They came out pretty cute.

And last weekend I dismantled the studio and had it painted. It looks so fresh and crisp now.

We've been busy getting Christmas orders out. It seems I have been spending more time in the studio than I should be when Chai starts sleeping on my desk to get me to stop working.

A dear friend of mine brought in this gorgeous poinsettia earlier in the week. I love how it has 3 colors in it. It is really quite large and has taken a big section of my desk up but I love it.

Rhonda has put it on two quilts in the past month. This first one, Charlene pieced for a wedding gift. Rhonda had the quilt on the machine when Irene brought in the second quilt she had made for her daughter. When Irene saw the pattern, she wanted it as well.

I love how the pattern echoes out.

Preprinted Quilting Designs by Sue Schmieden

Hello,

We have a brand new, beautiful product in stock now that we're very excited to tell you about! Sue Schmieden has come out with 6 gorgeous designs that are preprinted on 16.5" fabric. The designs come on either 100% cotton or 50% cotton / 50% bamboo. The idea is that you quilt the design along the preprinted blue lines, either on your long arm machine or a domestic sewing machine. Then you wash the project in cool water to remove the preprinted lines. Voila! You are left with a lovely quilted wholecloth.

Once completed, the quilted designs can be used as wall hangings, or you could piece several of the preprinted designs to make a larger quilt.

Organizing Your LongArm Supplies

When you're a LongArm Quilter it's important to keep your supplies organized and close at hand. This is the storage solution that I have found really works for me. I have four of these wonderful Alex drawer units from Ikea. They are just the right size to roll under my Millenium table and since they're on casters they're very easy to move around, if necessary.

My Alex's are filled with all of the threads I use in my LongArm quilting...

Hello,

Today we're introducing one of our LongArm Supplies Customers, Frances Madden from Alberta, Canada. We'd like to show you some of the beautiful quilting she's done using our threads and pantographs. Please note that all of the quilts shown were pieced by Frances' customers, quilted by Frances, and are being shown with their permission.

This is a Judy Niemeyer Fourth of July quilt. Frances designed the quilting and completed the quilt using Superior Lava #241 Vesuvius thread.

This next quilt is Simple Strips quilted with the Plumage pantograph using Gutterman thread.

This lovely quilt was pieced by a 12 year old girl. Frances quilted it with Superior So Fine #425 Brown Sugar. The back is minkee.

This gorgeous embroidery quilt was quilted with Superior So Fine #401 Snow. Frances drew her quilting designs from the embroidery within the quilt.

This Simple Star quilt was quilted by Frances with Lava #210 Coconut.

Hello,

Today we are featuring the beautiful work of Monika Krall. Monika is a very talented long arm quilter from Saskatchewan, Canada. You can read a little about her quilting and her life over at her blog, Quiltlover's News.

Here is a gorgeous quilt Monika recently finished for her customer. It is a Batik 5 Railfence Quilt made by Betty Ganie from Creative Clutter in Irma, Alberta. Monika quilted this beauty with the Cascade pantograph by Keryn Emmerson. This is one of the first pantographs that Monika purchased from us.

The thread used on this quilt was Superior Lava color #246. The result is absolutely stunning and the pictures do not do it justice!

Monika also has an etsy shop where she sells some of her lovely quilts.

Hello,

Happy New Year! I trust that you all had a very Merry Christmas with lots of time spent with family and friends and lots of good food eaten. We had a refreshing break and we're now ready to get back at it at LongArm Supplies! Our first official day back to work and my two employees are snowed in and working from home today.

Here's a quilt I finished quilting just in time for Christmas for a customer. She does such wonderful piecing! It's always a pleasure to quilt one of her quilts.

I love the crochet hook idea! My tip is when buffing out (ahem) burrs on the hook assembly, those foam core emery boards (nail file) work very well. The ends are the perfect size that the file has the perfect grit. Leaves everything nice and smooth!

Today we are featuring the wonderful work of Carole Gardner. Carole is the APQS rep from Kamloops, BC and has been a customer of ours from the beginning.

Good Morning!

This morning I was stitching away on a quilt for a customer when I saw a dark thread underneath the white fabric on the quilt top. I called my office assistant over to show her a neat trick for removing the dark thread and I thought I should share it with all of you as well. This tip has definitely come in handy over the years!

In the picture above you can see a dark thread under the white fabric if you look closely.

I'm using a Clover No. 12 (teeny tiny) Crochet Hook to gently poke through the white fabric.

I reached in with the hook and gently pulled the dark thread out. The hole that is left behind is very minimal and diminishes completely by rubbing it lightly with your finger.

Here you can see the long, dark thread that was removed.

Hello, and welcome to our new blog. This blog will be an extension of our Long Arm Supplies business website. We plan to post weekly with interesting tips and tutorials for Long Arm quilters, we'll have fun give aways periodically, as well as the occasional specials on some of our amazing thread, pantographs and notions.

On November 16 we were fortunate enough to have Mark Caraher come all the way from APQS in Iowa to our studio in Rosedale, BC to teach a machine maintenance class. Here are a few pics of our wonderful afternoon. It was just awesome, and very informative!

There were 20+ longarmers and their husbands in attendance.

Carol, the APQS rep from Kamloops, BC, kindly brought her Millennium to the seminar for Mark to demonstrate on.

Mark eased some of our thread tension issues

Each class participant received an APQS Machine Maintenance Manual, which is a very handy reference tool to have nearby when you're having issues with your machine!

Thanks to Mark for giving us the knowledge and confidence to keep our machines running smoothly.
